Ground Turkey Soup   1 comment

My husband and I use a lot of ground turkey versus ground meat and I love to eat soup whether it’s hot or cold outside. I decided to look around the internet and see what I could come across.  Low and behold I found the following recipe for Ground Turkey Soup.

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons butter(I prefer vegetable spread then butter.)
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 tsp oregano
  • 1/4 tsp basil
  • 3 tsp beef bouillon
  • 3 cups boiling water(I am replacing the water and bouillon with beef broth.)
  • 1 cup (8oz) tomato sauce( I used Goya tomato sauce.)
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 cup diced celery
  • 1 cup diced carrots
  • 1 cup chopped onions
  • 1 cup diced green pepper

Prep: In a skillet, saute ground turkey in butter until turkey is browned.  Add all ingredients to the crock pot. Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hrs. Serves 4 to 6 people.


Jill’s Review:

My Husband and I sat down to eat this and it came out better than I thought it would. I did notice it could have used more broth (Maybe 1/2 to 1 cup more depending on your preference. Also I forgot to mention as a side you can add bread or biscuits. We had Puerto Rican bread with ours called pan sobao. (My husband is Puerto Rican.)
